The Ohio Blue Shield Fund

The Ohio Blue Shield Fund is a 501(c)(3) approved non-profit organization created in the memory of John P. Vulanich.  Active in his community of Niles, Ohio for nearly his entire adult life, John Spent 25 of those years (1958-1983) as a Niles City Police Officer.  He was very proud of his police service, so upon his death in August 2009 our family decided to create the Ohio Blue Shield Fund in his memory and honor.

* - The Ohio Blue Shield Fund chose to award two scholarships for the 2011-2012 academic year.  This chose was made in conjunction with the applications received and the board members charged with selecting award winners were notified of and in agreement with this decision.  This decision to choose more than one award recipient does not necessarily mean that more than one recipient will be chosen in future years.
